Hi,

I am working on gateway V5.2 to SIP.
What is usual used way to pass Calling ID via SIP toward SIP UA. The one way is "Display Name" but I see that a part of SIP UA does not display "Display Name" value and try to display User Name instead or together.

Thanks, Michael.

Subject: [Sip-implementors] query about Calling ID
Hi,
I am working on gateway V5.2 to SIP.
What is usual used way to pass Calling ID via SIP toward SIP UA. The
one way is
"Display Name" but I see that a part of SIP UA does not display
"Display Name" value

[ABN] for all display purposes we can use Display Name (In fact that is
the only purpose of DisplayName field of any URI) part of any URI's
(From, TO, Contact...). If not display name next best option would be to
use the username part of the URI for display purposes.

For example, Display name in FROM URI could be used to display to called
party while alerting an incoming call.

I saw quite a few implementations where in if displayname is not
available then whole URI (username at Host) would be displayed to the
users...
Thanks, Michael.
